Marking the anniversary of May 9 violence, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has finalized its plan by holding the rallies across the nation.
As per the circular released by the PTI over its official social media handle, signed by the PTI Secretary General Omar Ayub Khan, as per the instructions of founding PTI chairman Imran Khan, the party will hold rallies at every provincial assembly constituency level in the nation to mark the day.
It is to be noted that the party rallies will be led by the Elected representatives, ticket holders and the party’s office bearers. Moreover, Pakistan and PTI flags will be hoisted on buildings on the occasion.
During the rally, former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s photo on placards with ‘Prisoner Number 804’ written on them would be prominently displayed. Prayers for PTI ‘martyrs’ will also be held at the rallies.
The arrest of Former PM Imran Khan, on May 9 last year, had triggered the countrywide protests. During the riots, public and private property was damaged while mobs also vandalized the infrastructure and attacked the military installations.
Later, the government of Pakistan has launched the crackdown against those who were protesting against the arrest of Imran Khan. They were identified through footage and call phones tracking and their trials were initiated in the military courts.
As per the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, more than 10,000 of its workers were detained, but the government had made a claim that it arrested only few thousands of them.
Noting to this, PTI not only challenged the military court cases in the Supreme Court, but also made an allegation that the riots were false-flag operation designed and carried out by the establishment to disintegrate the party.
During the crackdown, most of the PTI leaders were arrested and later a number of them told press conferences they had parted ways with the PTI.
