In order to sustain development and progress in the region, President Asif Ali Zardari, asked all the political forces in Balochistan to emphasize on the need of talk.
The president stated about this while receiving a briefing on law and order and progress on the ongoing development projects in the province. While mentioning about the need for talks, President Zardari said that, certain quarters did not want stability in the nation.
The meeting was attended by the Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Balochistan Governor Jaffar Khan Mando-Khel, Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti, provincial ministers and senior federal and provincial authorities.
During the talks, President Zardari highlighted the need to eliminate smuggling, which was damaging the national economy, and also emphasized the link between terrorism and narcotics smuggling. He also highlighted the significance of providing job opportunities to people living in the border areas.
It was also discussed during the meeting, to start the consultations on adopting of a joint national narrative against terrorism. President Zardari has directed law enforcement agencies for continuation of their efforts against terrorists and expressed awareness of the province’s backwardness and frail economic situation.
At the same time, he proposed making a joint strategy for cooperation between the two provinces in different sectors of public welfare.

He also mentioned about the need for seeking cooperation from different nations through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to provide jobs to technically educated and skilled youth abroad. Along with this, he also highlighted the need for release of allocated funds by the federal government to remove the province’s backwardness and prioritizing funds for the public welfare projects.
President Zardari, during the meeting, also emphasized on the need for outsourcing the Kachhi canal and proposed the constructing dams and supplying water to make lands cultivable, overcoming the paucity of water in the province, similar to Central Asian countries.
He stressed the importance of maintaining peace in the province and holding negotiations in the future, with a consensus at the national level.
