The local leaders of the Pakistan People’s Party on Monday has demanded for the federal caretaker government for bringing back the 400 Pakistan migrants, including 60 from Bajaur tribal district, who have been arrested in Libya for last 4 months.
While addressing the press conference, PPP former district president Aurangzeb Khan, Haji Khan Bahadar and Eng Hifzoor Khan noted that these Pakistanis were detained by the Libyan authorities on July 31 when they were trying to take entry into Europe.
Bounded by the family members of the several detainees, the PPP leaders said that the Pakistanis were detained from the warehouses of the human smugglers, where they kept for entering Europe.
As per the reports, the PPP leaders said that, “All the migrants were later shifted to the prisons to be deported to their country after completion of formalities. They claimed all the formalities had been completed in September and the government of Libya was willing to return them back to the homes instantly.
However, they levelled allegations that the Pakistani authorities were not willing for allowing them back as they were suspicious about their nationalities.
The PPP leaders said that the government of Pakistan, especially the interior ministry and the Foreign Office officials, did not permit their return as they believed migrants were not Pakistani citizens.
They added that the migrants were Pakistani nationals as they were having the passport of Pakistan and other documents. The further said that, it was the job of Pakistani mission in Libya ad the Foreign Office officials to probe the detainees’ nationalities when they were nabbed.
Meanwhile, the PPP leaders has raised a demand that the Caretaker PM Anwar ul Haq Kakar and the foreign and interior ministers for ensuring safe and secure return of the immigrants to their homeland.
They also raised a demand that the army chief and the PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to play their role in the early return of Pakistanis to their nation.
