Roseau, Dominica: Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit welcomed Rita Hammerli-Weshke, Ambassador of the Swiss Confederation to the Commonwealth of Dominica, on Friday, April 14, 2023.
PM Roosevelt Skerrit took to Facebook to share glimpses of the meeting, where they could be seen discussing various matters of concern related to the deepening of the diplomatic relations between Dominica and Switzerland.
PM Skerrit stated, “I held cordial talks last evening with Her Excellency Rita Hammerli-Weshke, Ambassador of the Swiss Confederation to the Commonwealth of Dominica.” The meeting featured a significant discussion on the mutual concerns of both countries and ways to improve the factors that are helpful in assisting in further strengthening the bilateral and multilateral aspects between the two nations.
PM Roosevelt Skerrit added, “We discussed matters of mutual interest and committed to the further strengthening of diplomatic ties between our countries.”
Switzerland and Dominica shared friendly ties and assisted each other in the path of several developmental projects. Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit has been working tirelessly on strengthening bilateral relationships with other countries by holding cordial talks with them.
The efforts of the government of Dominica under the leadership of PM Roosevelt Skerrit were lauded by its citizens. One of the Facebook users named Cynthia Andre added, “Continue to have the vision to forge international partner relationships that will benefit our country.”
Earlier, PM Roosevelt Skerrit also welcomed UN Resident Coordinator for Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean- Didier Trebucq. He was accompanied by Dr Renata Clarke, FAO Sub-regional Coordinator; Laura Hildebrandt, UNDP Head of Dominica Project Office; and Marlon Marie, UN Country Coordination Officer for Dominica.
The government of Dominica, along with the United Nations, also hosted Development Partners Meeting on March 29, 2023. The meeting featured a discussion on the development assistance of the UN to Dominica.
The United Nations Resident Coordinators Office for Barbados & the Eastern Caribbean is leading the roundtable discussion with the ultimate goal of strengthening the tripartite relationship among the Government of Dominica, Development Partners and the United Nations.
