Roseau, Dominica: Melissa Skerrit- Parliamentary Representative for Roseau Central Constituency, shared glimpses of the opening of the children’s playground in Peebles Park in Dominica. The opening ceremony was held on Tuesday, April 11, 2023.
While sharing the update, Melissa Skerrit expressed pleasure in the opening of the playground and stated that the space will be beneficial for the upliftment of the physical and mental strength of children. She also extended gratitude to the People’s Republic of China and stated that with their contribution has benefited the people and children of Dominica.
She took to Facebook and stated,”The long awaited children’s playground in Peebles Park is officially open! Thank you to The People’s Republic of China for their kind donation of play sets, to the government of Dominica for seeing my vision, for collaborating in building a safety wall. Thank you for seeing the vision come to life.”
Melissa Skerrit stated that they wanted to create a safe space for our children to socialize and a healthy and fun environment for them to learn and play. This is just the first of similar fun, interactive and educational children’s spaces to come.
Outlining her vision, Melissa Skerrit added, “My vision extends islandwide with additional playgrounds and public pools.” She said that they are in the process of erecting a permanent public restroom and better lighting is also coming. This will allow the park to be safely open for longer play time for the little ones. The park is currently under 24 hr security watch as safety is of course a top priority.
Melissa Skerrit also shared the highlights of Easter Sunday and extended gratitude to all the organizers. She said that Easter Sunday’s successful easter egg hunt and Grand Opening were fantastic. She wish to also thank the Labour Youth Organization and all the other organizers for a job well don
