In a major statement made by CNN-News18 quoting top intelligence sources, noted that a heavy social media push has been made by the Intelligence agency of Pakistan, ISI, via indirect funding routes to Khalistani separatist leader Amritpal Singh from Canada, the United Kingdom, and other nations.
They noted that, “Several Facebook and Instagram accounts are flooding thousands of pictures of purported suppression of Sikhs in India.”
According to the CNN-News18, “They are advertised also, and these advertisements can be seen in Canada, the UK, and Germany.”
As per the reports, “These advertisements are designed in such a way that they are only going to the accounts of young Sikh between the age group of 18-25 years old.”
They mentioned that these advertisements are targeted toward Sikh names and surnames like Singh, Kaur, etc. These advertisements are paid for and running for almost a year.
According to the report of CNN-News18, “They have directly reached the targeted audience in terms of showing atrocities, selling garments with images of Sikh atrocities, car accessories etc.”
Reports from CNN-News18 quoted intelligence sources as saying that, “Those involved are creating millions of dollars for funding. These advertisements are directly linking Sikh secessionist leader Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale with Amritpal Singh.”
They mentioned that, “The leader of Waris Punjab De, Amritpal, is projected like Bhindranwale in walking, and talking, with a pagdi (turban) on his head, and he even poses like the militant leader who was killed during Operation Blue Star in 1984.”
Noting to the reports by CNN-News18, the intelligence sources have revealed that, “the comments below the posts are not organic Indian Punjabi comments, but their language that they are using for commenting suggests that they are from Pakistan’s Punjab Province. In India, they can be seen only on using VPN with locations such as Canada, Germany or the United Kingdom.”
