St Kitts and Nevis: Inter Caribbean Airways announced to initiate service from Barbados and Puerto Rico into St Kitts from March 2023. The flights will arrive at RLB International Airport. Tourism Minister Marsha Henderson declared the flights and said it will connect the Caribbean region.
While announcing, Marsha Henderson cited that the St Kitts Tourism Authority has negotiated with Inter-Caribbean airways to initiate service from Barbados and Puerto Rico into St Kitts.
She added that the government of St Kitts and Nevis is on the path to uplift the country. Prior to the pandemic, the Caribbean was our second-largest source market.
She added that this market is driven by business travel, visiting friends and relatives, and Caribbean events such as CPL, Carnival, and music festivals. Regional travel has been impacted significantly as a result of inadequate airlift within the region due to the limitation of the existing regional carrier.
“Many of you may be aware, present travel in the airways is characterized by expensive trips to the United States with overnight stays on multiple stops within the region thus resulting in extended travel time. This has been a prime time for the people of our region. However, despite the adversity faced, your government has once again delivered,” said the Minister.
The details of the flights are as follows:
- Service ought of the Grandly Adams International Airport of Barbados to be scheduled to commence on Sunday, March 12, 2023.
- The service to Puerto Rico will be announced shortly thereafter.
- Amebrio 120 aircraft with a seating capacity of 30 will service from St Kitts to Barbados three times weekly on Sunday, Wednesday, and Friday with one-stop connectivity via Barbados to the islands of Grenada, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Saint Lucia, Dominica, and Guyana.
