The Supreme Court Bar Association of Pakistan (SCBAP) has issued a statement condemning the human rights violations, that were committed by the law enforcement agencies on Wednesday. The statement by the Supreme Court Bar Association of Pakistan came a day after the Pakistan police, who, on the pretext of the arrest of PTI Chairman Imran Khan, have attempted to use all the unfair means.
It is to be noted that, Khan has extended thanks to the Supreme Court Bar Association for taking a stand against the unfair means used by the police of Pakistan. He took it to his official social media handle to share the above-mentioned statement, along with the post, which reads as follows, “I am grateful to the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBAP) for taking a very firm stand regarding the supremacy of the Constitution as well as the rule of law in the country. We also appreciate your condemnation of the excessive use of force by the authorities in Zaman Park.”
In the statement issued by the President of the SCBAP, Abid S Zuberi and Secretary of SCBAP, Akhtar Shabbir, condemning the entire incident, said that, “The SCBAP stands for the rule of law and the Constitution and respect of the judgement of the Courts. We are condemning all violations of any human right and excesses committed by the law enforcement agencies for taking laws in their own hand.”
The statement further reads that, “Any form of violence is not acceptable in a democratic nation governed by the rule of law & the Constitution. The police excess being committed in Lahore to arrest the former Prime Minister in a warrant issued by a Magistrate is excessive and not according to the law and sheer violation of fundamental rights of the citizens of the nation.”
At the same time, the statement further mentioned that every person must be treated as per the law, and due process has to be adopted.
