St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis- Dr Terrance Drew extended condolences on the tragic passing of Devorita Weekes. The death was recorded due to the tragic fire in the house earlier this morning.
Weekes, was 91-year-old resident of Wades Garden, was discovered inside the house. She was pronounced dead at the scene of the incident.
Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew took to Facebook and extended condolences to Weekes. He said that it is with heavy hearts that we learn from the Police reports of the tragic passing of Devorita Weekes, a 91-year-old resident of Wades Garden, in a house fire earlier this morning.
He assured that the government of St Kitts and Nevis will investigate the incident. He said,”Our law enforcement continues its diligent investigations into this incident.”
Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew also extended condolences to the family of the deceased. He also extended support to the family at this somber time.
“At this somber time, I want to convey my sincerest condolences to the grieving family and friends of the departed. May they find strength and solace during this difficult period,”said the prime minister.
The Police responded to a report of a house fire in Wades Garden, St Kitts, that was received shortly before 3AM on August 21st, 2023. Upon arriving at the scene, a residential building was observed to be ablaze.
The St. Kitts and Nevis Fire and Rescue Services (SKNFRS) extinguished the blaze after which, ninety-one (91)-year old Devorita Weekes was discovered inside the house. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Forensic Unit of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force (RSCNPF) assessed the scene and collected some items of evidential value. The cause of the blaze is currently unknown. An investigation into the incident is ongoing and the general public will be appropriately updated of its developments.
The RSCNPF expresses heartfelt condolences to all who have been negatively impacted by this occurrence.
