The Chairperson of Majlis-e-Shura of Saudi Arabia, Dr Abdullah Mohammad Al-Sheikh, accompanied by a Saudi parliamentary delegation called on Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, on the margins of two-day International Constitutional Convention.
While welcoming the Chairman, Speaker Ashraf extended thanks to him for visiting Pakistan to attend the convention, and detailed month-long activities by the Assembly to commemorate 50 years of the Constitution of Pakistan.
At the same time, they held talks on the several subjects of concern for both nations.
Meanwhile, Chairman Abdullah while congratulating the Speaker on the 50th anniversary of the Constitution , appreciated the organization of month-long activities and wished enduring peace and prosperity for Pakistan.
Along with this, he also appreciated Speaker for his speech at the international Constitutional Convention and said that, the “Constitution played a pivotal role in the development of the country.”
The Speaker said “Pakistan enjoys historical relations with Saudi Arabia and both countries always stood by each other through thick and thin”, especially Saudi Arabia always extended a helping hand whenever required by Pakistan.”
During the convention, they also held talks on the entire spectrum of ties rooted in a strong bond and cooperation. Speaker Ashraf also lauded revival of ties between Saudi Arabia and Iran and termed this development as a significant achievement for peace and prosperity of the region.
While discussing parliamentary cooperation, the Speaker added that, “Pakistan’s parliament is well on its digitalization and under the initiative we have achieved great success so far and the same can be transmitted and shared with Majlis Ash Shura, as digitalization is the need of the hour”. The Chairman appreciated the offer and shared that, “it is high time to fully implement the MoU signed between the two Parliaments and also hinted to send parliamentary delegation to Pakistan for the same purpose.”
