While pointing arrows towards the Imran Khan led Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, the Chief organizer of the PML-N, Maryam Nawaz, on Monday finally unveiled much-awaited election campaign for the upcoming elections in Pakistan.
Maryam Nawaz, while attending the well-attended rally, said that, “A terrorist party cannot be allotted an electoral symbol of the political party.” She said this two days after Imran Khan’s PTI lost its case for the electoral symbol ‘bat’ for not holding intra-party polls according to the rules.
PML-N chose Okara to launch its campaign and Maryam Nawaz travelled to the city for addressing the rally.
Meanwhile, PML-N Chief, Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif, did not attended the gathering, as they were having meeting with the economists in Lahore. But they are expected to address the rallies in the coming days.
Notably, the PML-N had been facing criticism, mainly from PPP, for ‘staying indoors’ despite the elections being just a few weeks away.
During the address, Maryam Nawaz targeted Imran Khan and his party in the speech. She told the PTI lawyers to properly prepare the cases next time before the Supreme Court as they might not have the facility of ‘mother-in-law’ (a reference to a purported audio leak of the mother-in-law of the former CJP Umar Ata Bandial).
She reminded the PTI that from now on the ‘law’ and nation would make decisions.
In an apparent reference to PTI, she added that, “A terrorist party cannot be allotted an electoral symbol of the political party.”
She said the country would not allow a political party to manipulate its internal elections and escape without any consequences.
Nawaz told the PTI that it’s the election symbol should have been ‘danda’ (baton) which it allegedly used against the state and the military installations on May 9.
Showing confidence in the PML-N led government, she said that, “A strong government should be given to Nawaz Sharif to resolve the people’s problems.”
