The Kohat Police drove back a rocket and gun attack on Khurram Muhammadzai police station in Karak district’s Banda Daud Shah tehsil. As per the officials concerned with the case, the repulsion of police during the attack has forced the militants to escape.
It is to be noted that, during this entire scene, a constable was injured after a splinter from a wall struck him.
Karak district police officer Sajjad Ahmed Khan and DSP Nazir Hussain said that the militants have attacked the police station from the backside.
After the attack, the officials said that a police contingent along with a squad of Quick Response Force was deployed, and the personnel has given a befitting response to the attackers.
As per the statement, “The militants came from Bannu side after crossing mountain range. There were nine cops that were present inside the police station, who were alert about the danger after a spate of attacks on the police in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.”
DSP Nazir, while mentioning about the case, said that, “Around 8-10 militants attacked the police station with the heavy and light weapons at around 12.30 AM. He said that some extra force was sent from the nearby police stations to the Khurram Muhammadzai.”
“Whereas, announcements were made later on from the loudspeakers of mosque, after which, over 250 to 300 locals came for the help of law enforcers. After clearing the area, police launched the search and clearance operation,” says DSP Nazir.
Along with this, he added that the militants fled from the place after facing tough resistance from inside the police station.
DPO Ahmed, while considering the above mentioned, said that, “The people has proved that the common aim of everyone is to finish the crime. As considering the response of the people in fight against the terrorists has proven that our fight are against the common enemies, who wanted to create a law and order situation.”
The Counter-Terrorism Department registered a case against unknown attackers and started investigations.
