Roseau, Dominica: The government of Dominica, Dominica Geothermal Development Company and Kenesjay Green Limited has virtually signed a framework agreement on Wednesday. The meeting was held at H2 Caribbean Miami.
Minister of Finance- Dr Irving McIntyre, Attorney General Levi A. Peter, Fred John CEO of Dominica Geothermal Development Company and Michael Savarin GC of National Focal Point for Dominica joined the signing ceremony virtually. The meeting also featured the discussion on the aspects of the economic diversification and inclusive growth by leveraging the country’s national resources in sustainable ways.
Talking about agreement, Dr Irving McIntyre referred the signing ceremony as the momentous occasion for the people and government of Dominica. He said that the agreement will work as the primary pillars of the green industrial development programme and measures for the low carbon economy of the country.
Dr McIntyre showed his confidence in the agreement and asserted that this will boost the economic and national well-being of the country and help to fulfil the goal of becoming first climate-resilient nation in the world. Dominica consisted of largest geothermal resources in the Caribbean region and country has the ability to develop a globally competitive Green Hydrogen Industry.
He added, “The experience gained from Dominica Geothermal Development Company will enhance the new phase of the geothermal and its development in Roseau Valley Geothermal Field Resource.” He also extended gratitude to Kenesjay Green Limited and Trinidad and Tobago for collaborating with Dominica.
Further, Philip Julien who is the Chairman of Kenesjay Green Limited expressed pleasure in the collaboration with the government of Dominica and said that the country asked them one question, what if Dominica could undertake a parallel path as Trinidad and Tobago had started around the same time through the Newgen Hydrogen Project to explore Green Hydrogen Projects.
He said that after that they conducted a country assessment and the discovered the remarkable renewable energy potential in Dominica.
Kenesjay Green is a private sector company committed to the Caribbean in developing a pipeline of green decarbonizing projects for the region.
