The Balochistan police has reported about another cold shootout between the armed gunmen and the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) near the Kech district on Thursday. It is to be noted that, as per the details, around 4 terrorists were killed during the firing
Notably, in the statement released, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) said that it had received an information about the presence of terrorists near the Pasni Road in Kech district.
As per the statement, “On reaching the spot, the law enforcement personnel encountered resistance as seven to eight terrorists engaged in shootout with the forces.”
The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) said that, “RPGs and hand grenades were fired by the terrorists during the encounter.”
It added that, “Later, terrorists tried to flee the scene but the CTD team followed them in hot pursuit. Four terrorists were killed and several others managed to escape using the cover of night.”
As per the statement, the security forces recovered a cache of weapons, including pistols, grenades, an improvised explosive device (IED)-fitted motorbike, and other arms during the operation.
It is to be hereby mentioned that, the bodies of the terrorists were sent to the Teaching Hospital Turbat for legal formalities, the CTD added, stating that the further probe was underway.
The Counter Terrorism Department and various law enforcement agencies have been actively engaged in Balochistan and neighbouring areas, undertaking intelligence-based operations to locate and eradicate terrorist elements.
Notably, during the month of September, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) conducted an operation in the Aghberg area of Quetta, which resulted in the elimination of five people identified as alleged terrorists linked with the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
Whereas, past few days back, eight people, including two security officials and six civilians, were martyred while several others sustained wounds in a string of blasts in across North Waziristan, South Waziristan and Bajaur.
