Around five terrorists were killed in an operation led by the security forces in the Mir Ali area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s North Waziristan District. The information about the above mentioned statement has been shared by the military’s media affairs wing on Saturday.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that the forces conducted an operation in t eh Mir Ali area on the reported presence of terrorists in the area.
The statement shared that, “An intense exchange of fire took place during the operation and five terrorists, including their commander, Rahzaib Khuray, were sent to hell.”
It added that the slain terrorists remained actively involved in the numerous terrorists activities against the security forces as well as extortion and targeted killings of civilians. “The security forces have also recovered weapons and ammunition during the operation.”
Locals of the region also appreciated the operation. The ISPR in the statement added that, “Sanitisation operation is being carried out for eliminating any other terrorist found in the area as the security forces are determined for wiping out the menace of terrorism from the nation.”
Pakistan, in the recent months, have witnessed spike in the terror activities, mainly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, after the banned militant Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan ended its ceasefire with the government last year.
Even, earlier this month, around 25 troops of the Pakistan Army embraced martyrdom in two different incidents on single day, including the terrorist attack in Dera Ismail Khan, claiming lives of 23 troops and a military operation in the Kalochi and Darazinda areas of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa that has witnessed two army personnel losing their lives.
This was the military’s highest single-day death toll from the terrorist attacks reported this year.
As per the statistics released by the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS) on the suicide attacks in 2023, the country has seen the highest number of suicide attacks sine 2014 during this year, with around half of them targeting the security forces.
