The leader of the Baloch Yekjehti Committee(BYC), Dr Mahrang Baloch, on Wednesday has issued a new line of action for pressing for the recovery of the missing persons. In the announcement made, she added that a protest camp would be set up in front of the United Nations(UN) offices.
Along with this, Dr Baloch thanked the judiciary for restraining the Islamabad police and the capital administration from taking any strict action against their protest camps outside the National Press Club.
Mentioning on this, Dr Baloch said that, “Nobody has asked for any security from the police, but their large presence is just to intimidate the participants of the protest camps. They cannot scare us now after the directives of the courts.”
The decision of the Islamabad High Court came after wave of strong rumors started blowing that the Islamabad police will be launching an operation during the early hours of Wednesday to dislodge the protest camps of BYC.
Notably, on Wednesday, Dr Baloch addressed a press conference in which she said that the seven-day deadline given to the government for the recovery of missing persons has ended, but there had not been any reply from the relevant authorities.
She said that, “Our campaign has now entered the third phase and we will not be bogged down by the threats and pressures because we have a justified demand on the basis of the human rights.”
The leaders of the BYC said that they would continue their protests across the nation and the protest camp in Islamabad would be further expanded with the participation of more families of missing Baloch persons, adding that the social media campaigns as well as shutterdown strikes would begin.
She further stated that, “We will be deciding the next course of action in the coming days on the basis of the response of the authorities. If all the peaceful means to persuade our demands fail, we will set up our camp outside the UN office to seek for the help from the international community.”
She also extended her regrets over the statement of the caretaker prime minister, Anwar ul haq Kakar, who claimed that the missing persons were terrorists.
Dr Mahrang, added that, “At least the prime minister has acknowledged that there was an issue of missing persons, and as for declaring them as the terrorists, I want to know which court has declared them terrorists; what about the implementation of the various court decisions for producing the missing persons.”
It is to be added that, the situation at the camp was deteriorating as many participants, including children and the elders, were facing the extremes of the Islamabad weather.
