The President of Pakistan, Dr Arif Alvi and the Caretaker Prime Minister, Anwar ul Haq Kakar, on Friday has expressed concern over the police action against Baloch protestors in the federal capital.

The Islamabad police, on Wednesday night, used the force to disperse and arrest Baloch protestors who had converged on the capital to protest against the enforced disappearances and extra-judicial killings in their province. During the drive, over 200 protestors were taken into custody from different areas of the capital. The police force also sprayed protestors with the tear gas, water canons and police batons.
Later on, the events met with the strong condemnation by the human rights organization, politicians and analysts. On Thursday evening, the government said that around 90% of the Baloch men and women taken into custody were released, except the men who could not be identified by the police.
Moreover, the Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court, Aamer Farooq, had also censured the capital city police over the issue.
As per the details shared by the President of Pakistan, Dr Alvi, “While talking about the situation over the phone call, both the president and the prime minister were of the view that police should not have dealt with the protesters strictly.”
During the call, PM Kakar, told the President that the arrested protestors were being released on the personal bonds.
Meanwhile, the Governor of Balochistan, Malik Abdul Wali Khan Kakar, also called on the President Arif Alvi to discuss the overall situation in the province along with the ill-treatment of police against the protestors.
The statement quoted the governor as saying that, “Police should deal with the protestors with the patience and compassion.” The two further agreed that the police should not have acted beyond their limited and powers.
President Alvi and Governor Kakar also emphasised the measures to improve the law and order situation in Balochistan.
