The Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, on Monday has laid the foundation stone of three industrial zones in Lahore and Sheikhupura. It is to be noted that, OMBRE Special Economic Zone and Sundar Green Special Economic Zones are being established in Lahore while Smart Special Economic Zone is being set up in Sheikhupura.
During the foundation ceremony, Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif has also delivered the public address at the opening ceremony. During which, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has emphasized on the need to spread the network of Special Economic Zones across the nation. He said that, “As far as special economic zones of the public sector are concerned, the government will be providing free land to the investors as it has provided for the Bahawalpur Solar Park.”
While delivering the address, PM Shehbaz Sharif has urged the industrial sector to utilize alternative energy to make exports more competitive in the international market. Noting to which, he said that, “due to rising oil prices, the only choice is solar energy, wind and water energy so that local products are cheaper.”
The Prime Minister said that, “the problem of revolving credit needs to be solved on an urgent basis, which is increasing due to line losses and electricity theft.”
He praised the private sector for devising a plan for the establishment of three special economic zones and assured the full cooperation of the federal and provincial governments.
At the same time, he said that, “the commitment of the private sector to invest billions of rupees is also commendable. The private sector will also set up a three megawatt solar power plant and other facilities such as a vocational training centre.”
Along with this, he has hoped that, “The interim government will also going to take all the possible steps to keep the economy on the path of the development.”
