The Deputy Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the United Nations, Usman Jadoon has urged UN panel to find out the source of supplies of weapons to banned Tehreek-i-Taliban (TTP) Pakistan to carry out terrorist attacks in the nation.
It is to be noted that, Usman Jadoon highlighted this issue during the UN Security Council open debate on the threat posed by the diversion, illegal trafficking, and misuse of small arms and light weapons.
During the debate, he argued that terrorist group like TTP acquire such weapons “from illegal arms markets or receive them from entities that were mainly to destabilize a specific region or country.”
At the same time, he made a demand “an investigation into how the TTP acquired the sophisticated weapons being used against Pakistan.
He said that, “Pakistan will continue to work closely with the international community towards exposing those who were responsible for supporting, financing and externally sponsoring such operations.”
Along with this, he pointed out that “terrorists and criminals do not manufacture these advanced arms; instead, they acquire them from illicit markets or entities with the intentions to destabilize specific regions or countries.”
“And it is the responsibility of all the states and the United Nations to take measures to prevent illicit trade, transfer and the diversion of these arms.”
While ensuring continued collaboration with the international community, the Pakistani diplomat said that, “The stance of Pakistan on this issue highlights the commitment of the country to global peace and security.”
Meanwhile, Pakistan has urged the establishment of a special tribunal ad accountability mechanism to investigate Israel’s alleged war crimes against Palestinians. Munir Akram, the Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the United Nations, made this demand during the Emergency Special Session of the United Nations General Assembly on the situation in Palestine.
These diplomatic initiatives highlight Pakistan’s proactive engagement on the global stage, addressing critical issues and advocating for justice, accountability, and lasting peace in regions marred by conflict.
