Over 20 people were reportedly wounded following the series of incidents of violence across the state of Punjab during the February 8 elections day.
It is to be noted that, the incidents of clashes during the elections were reported across other states of Pakistan as well.
The incident, which has taken place in the Talagang of Chakwal, where four people were shot and wounded during the armed clash between the two of the groups. Whereas, the police said that the clash was not mainly related to the election-related incident, but it was an result of the enmity between the two groups.
Following this, the people wounded in the clash were taken to the local hospital where the condition of one of them is said to be serious.
Notably, the elections were held amidst of the heightened security measures across Punjab where more than 130,000 police personnel were deployed other than the army, rangers as well as the officers of the law enforcement agencies.
In the three-tier security, the Punjab Police were assigned the leading role followed by the Rangers and the army.
Not just limited to this, several reports from various parts of the province also came out, sharing the instances of the clashes between the voters and the workers of the rival political parties, including the PML-N and the PTI.
At the same time, five people were wounded in then Rahim Yar Khan, in a clash between PPP and PML-N workers at a polling station of Chak 171-P in Sadiqabad tehsil.
The reports shared that the polling process was in progress for NA-174, Rahim Yar Khan VI, in Chak 171-P when some of the PPP workers entered into the polling stations with a party flag. Result of which, a clash took place when the workers of the rival party raised the objection.
Along with this, in the PP-174, a clash has reported between the workers and the voters of the PML-N candidate Bilal Yasin and his rival contestant, Chaudhry Asghar Gujjar. Whereas, no injuries have been reported to anyone.
