The Karachi police have nabbed two men who are blamed of gang-raping a nine-year-old flood victim. The following announcement has been made by officials on Wednesday.
Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon has made a confirmation about the detention of the men.
As per the police, help was taken from closed-circuit television cameras (CCTV), and footage of the vehicles used by the men. Several media reports have also claimed about the footage of the vehicle.
The police stated that the arrangements were being made for a medical examination of the captured man.
The 9-year-old girl was gang-raped at a camp which was set up to house those who have been affected by the flood in Clifton. The family of the girl had come to Karachi from the Shikarpur district of Sindh because of the floods.
After the horrific incident, Chief Minister of Sindh Syed Murad Ali took serious note of the case & directed the police authorities to detain the culprits.
He had also ordered the authorities who were concerned to take the remaining members of the family of the girl in protective care.
He further said to Additional Inspector-General Karachi Javed Odho via the telephone, “This is totally unacceptable & cannot be forgiven, which is why, I want the culprits behind the bars immediately.”
The additional Inspector General Karachi said the CM that the 10-year-girl & her six younger brothers as well as sisters were living with her mother in the outskirts of the shrine of Abdullah Shah Ghazi. Initially, the family belonged to the Shikarpur district.
