The Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday has chaired a Federal Cabinet meeting, during which the PM along with his party leaders has discussed the ongoing situation in Turkey.
During the Federal Cabinet meeting, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has set up a relief fund to help earthquake victims in Turkey. Noting to which, Federal Cabinet has unanimously finalized the decision to donate its one month salary to the earthquake victims in Turkey.
Moreover, one day’s salary of government officials of grade 18 to grade 22 of the federal government will be donated to the fund established for the earthquake victims in Turkey.
Notably, Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif took it to his official social media handle to share the update among the general public, adding that, “The scene of a 7.8 magnitude earthquake in brother country Turkey has killed thousands of people. I have set up “PM Relief Fund for Turkey Earthquake Victims”, the public and philanthropists collect generous donations in account number G-12166 Get it done.”
While highlighting the bilateral ties between Turkey and Pakistan, PM Sharif said that, “Turkey has always sincerely and generously helped Pakistan’s national interests and in the difficulties faced by the people. Turkey has sincerely and generously provided assistance in the 2005 earthquakes, 2010 and 2022 devastating floods.”
He further added that, “In this hour of difficulty, the government and the people of Pakistan should also fully help their brothers and sisters of Turkey. Helping the people of Turkey is also our religious responsibility.”
Meanwhile, on the instructions of PM Sharif, another C-130 aircraft from Lahore has also left for Istanbul, Turkey on Tuesday with 9 tonnes of relief supplies, which includes, tents, blankets and other important items.
At the same time, PM Sharif has also informed that, “15 tons of relief goods will also be sent to Turkey and Syria by PIA flights from Islamabad and Lahore every day from February 8 for the earthquake-affected Turkish brothers by the people of Pakistan.”
