A local court in the capital city of Islamabad on Sunday has granted the Punjab Anti Corruption Establishment (ACE) one day physical custody of former Information Minister, Fawad Chaudhry, in a graft case.
Fawad Chaudhry, who is one of the several politicians, who left the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf following the May 9 violence, was produced before the duty judge judicial magistrate Ghulam Mustafa, at the judicial complex in Rawalpindi.
It is to be hereby added that, the judge after hearing the arguments reserved its verdict and handed over Fawad on a one-day physical custody to the Punjab Anti Corruption Establishment (ACE).
During the hearing of the case on Sunday, the counsel for the ACE sought for a five day physical custody and alleged that Fawad Chaudhry, through his frontman Fouq Sherbaz, took Rs3.5 million for providing a no-objection certificate (NOC) from a private housing scheme and the amount needs to be recovered.
Whereas, the Islamabad court rejected the request and sent the former PTI minister one day physical custody.
The judge asked the authorities to present the accused in the relevant court after approving the plea for the physical remand. Fawad Chaudhry would now be presented before an Anti-corruption court on Monday.
However, the counsel of Fawad, Faisal Chaudhry, contended that the case was fake and was mainly driven by the political motives, raising arguments that the housing society owners have no complaint.
Former Information Minister, Fawad Chaudhry, brought before the magistrate in an armored vehicle from Adiala Jail. It is to be hereby noted that, during the past month, Former Federal Minister, Fawad Chaudhry, was arrested from his home in Islamabad.
Following which, Fawad Chaudhry’s wife, Hiba Chaudhry, said that, “Fawad has been arrested and taken to an unknown place.”
Considerably, Former Minister, Fawad was arrested in January for publicly threatening the members of the Election Commission of Pakistan.
