The Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court, Justice Aamer Farooq on Wednesday had sent summon to the joint secretaries of the ministries of defence and interior in link with the ‘missing’ of PTI candidate Abdullah Mumtaz Kahloon.
It is to be noted that, Abdullah Kahloon, who went missing from the Islamabad International Airport after his arrival from abroad, has sent shockwaves across the nation. Noting to this, the Islamabad High Court on Tuesday has issued notice to the concerned authorities to trace Kahloon with the help of CCTV footage.
Abdullah Mumtaz Kahloon had filed nomination for contesting the general elections from PP-76 Sargodha. He was nominated an accused in an FIR and sought protective bail from the Islamabad High Court Chief Justice. Despite this, he was allegedly picked up from the airport.
The petition filed by his counsel, Babar Awan, stated that Kahloon had obtained the protective bail and was set to appear before the high court.
He added that, his client landed at the Islamabad airport, where some of the unknown men wearing the tracksuits picked him up and took him into the custody from the immigration counter.
Whereas, on Tuesday night, a video of Abdullah Mumtaz Kahloon had emerged over social media in which he stated that he was with a friend. He also condemned the May 9 violence and disassociated himself from the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI).
In the video message, he extended apologies for not appearing before the court because of being unwell.
After the hearing in this matter resumed on Wednesday, AAG Munawar Iqbal Duggal said to the court that CCTV footage of the airport had revealed that Kahloon went with three-four persons on his own and did not resist.
Meanwhile, the court summoned the senior authorities of the defence and interior ministries and adjourned the hearing till Jan 15.
