“Benazir Bhutto is a bright symbol of democratic and political struggle who martyred herself in the struggle for people’s rights,” says the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif.
The day of December 27 is observed as a black day in the Pakistan history, as on this day in 2007, former prime minister Benazir Bhutto got martyred. In the post, PM Sharif noted that, “The black day of December 27, 2007 is unforgettable event of the martyrdom of a beloved leader of the people. The first woman PM of the Islamic world, Benazir Bhutto, is a captivating story of the continuous struggle throughout her life.”
Being a leader of Pakistan, PM Shareef paid homage and respect to the former prime minister, Benazir Bhutto’s historical services for the nation, people as well as democracy.
He further stated that, “The supremacy of the constitution, their determined and fearless public, as well as a political movement against dictatorship, is a proud & golden chapter of history. ”
Meanwhile, “Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Benazir Bhutto gave the historical present of the Charter of Democracy to the country and the people, ushering in a new era in the country’s politics. The Charter of Democracy is a milestone achievement of the political vision of our great leaders, which ushered in a new political culture & tradition in Pakistan,” said PM Sharif.
He also noted the bold and clear stand took by former PM Benazir Bhutto against terrorism. “The martyrdom of Benazir Bhutto is proof of Pakistan’s iron determination against terrorism. Benazir Bhutto rendered tireless services for the empowering of national defence, strengthening of constitutional institutions and social welfare.”
He further extended condolences as well as sympathy to the family members along with the relatives of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto including former President Zardari, Bilawal Bhutto. “May Allah raise the ranks of all the martyrs, including Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, and grant patience to the families, Ameen,” said PM Sharif.
