St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew condemned three robbery incidents that happened in St Kitts and Nevis in one day. He said that these criminal acts affect him and negatively impact the community.
St Kitts and Nevis reported three robbery incidents on August 12, 2023. The two incidents occurred at Ram’s Supermarket at Camps, and the Ram’s Supermarket at Bird Rock, respectively; the third one happened at Douglas Estate, St. Peter’s.
As per the preliminary investigations, four armed and masked assailants robbed four of the cashier’s stations and the vault of a large sum of money before fleeing the scene in a waiting car.
The assailants also stole a large sum of cash from the cashiers and the vault before making their getaway in a waiting car. The scenes of both incidents were processed by the Crime Scene Unit and items of evidential value were collected.
The Police are investigating the reported armed robbery of a male civilian that was happened at Douglas Estate, St. Peter’s, St Kitts.
The alleged victim came to the Basseterre Police Station and reported that shortly after making a purchase at an eatery, he observed four (4) males dressed in black standing in the dark area while driving.
Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew condemned the incident and said that the Government of St Kitts and Nevis is committed to working closely with law enforcement.
He said, “I wholeheartedly condemn the actions of the perpetrators who engaged in the robbery of the two RAMS supermarkets last evening and the alleged armed robbery at Douglas Estate, St. Peter’s. I am deeply troubled by the recent events.”
PM Terrance Drew added that the Government will ensure the safety and security of the citizens of St Kitts and Nevis.
“These criminal acts negatively affect our community and businesses must discontinue. Your Government is committed to working closely with law enforcement to ensure safety and bring those responsible to justice. Let us come together to support one another during this challenging time, “said the prime minister.
