At least three policemen were martyred and two were injured in a suicide explosion which occurred in the police lines at Tank, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. This information was shared by the Tank District Police Officer, Iftikhar Ali Shah.
While sharing the details about the casualties, he said that, a sub-inspector was also among those killed in the attack.
As per the officials, one of the several militants first set off an explosion at the main entrance of the police office, then the residential block, while others stormed in. DPO Shah, said that, “Our force on guard engaged them in gun battle for hours.”
The Inspector General of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Akhtar Hayat, said that, “Three of the attackers were killed.”
Meanwhile, the police teams have begun the investigation into the case and search operation was under way to locate more militants. DPO Shah, who is present at the site of the explosion, said that, “the terrorists fired shots and used hand grenades.”
Considerably, Ansarul Islam group claime the responsibility of the attack, saying that it was their first attack. Whereas, the police did not verify the authenticity of the claim.
While expressing the grief over the suicide attack at the police links, Tank, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, former Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, said that, “Deeply saddened to report the suicide blast on police lines in Tank, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the cowardly terrorist attack on the joint check post of Police and Frontier Corps in Khyber district.”
Along with this, he also condemned the attack and expressed condolences to the bereaved families, adding that, “We strongly condemn these incidents of terrorism and express our heartfelt condolences to the families of the martyrs.”
