The heatwave and rise in has resulted in the extension of Summer Vacations for schools in several parts of Sindh Province. The province has been struggling with increasing number of heatwaves and significant rise in temperatures.
The educational authorities of Sindh, expressing their worry over the wellbeing of the children, who may face health challenges in the light of the increasing heat. The met office of Sindh province reports that during the heatwave, the temperatures may rise as high as 52 degrees.
Accordingly, the weather office and Education department of the province noted that the extension of the summer vacations is in the best interest of the students. The officials have shared that the Summer Vacation for the schools in Sindh had been extended by two weeks.
The summer vacation was scheduled for two months, from June 1 to July 31. However, in the light of the current weather conditions and circumstances, the vacation was extended by two weeks.
After the extension, the schools are now set to open after August 14. The decision, in part has also been taken in consideration of the upcoming monsoon rains.
The rain is also expected to disrupt the school classes in the upcoming weeks. The officials have shared that the extra curricular activities pertaining to the national independence day will continue as previously scheduled.
The celebrations, irrespective of the extension of the summer vacation, will continue without hinderance. All the educational institutions within the province, including schools and colleges will remain closed as per the instruction of the School Education & Literacy Department.
The met office has shared that they continue to monitor the weather conditions of Sindh and share the details of any major changes. The Sindh province must brace for intense heat starting Wednesday.
After this, the met office believes, the province will be experiencing another spell of monsoon rains in the region from July 24 to July 28
