Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, on Friday, has held a meeting with the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Pakistan, Sheikh Saud bin Abdul Rahman Al-Sani.
In the meeting with the Prime Minister of Pakistan, the Ambassador of Qatar to Pakistan has given a special message along with good wishes from the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to the Prime Minister.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has further extended congratulations to Qatar for hosting the most successful event of the FIFA World Cup in history and also appreciated the significant role that the security forces of Pakistan has played for providing foolproof security during the entire FIFA World Cup.
While pointing to the longstanding and fraternal ties between the two nations, the Prime Minister highlighted the importance of converting these ties into solid economic partnership.
Although, reaffirming his commitment to work to further broaden and diversify bilateral cooperation, PM Sharif emphasised upon the importance of trade, investment, energy sectors and workforce in this regard.
Notably, following the 2022 floods in Pakistan, Qatar has established an air bridge with the Qatari Emir Air Force and sent an urgent aid to Pakistan, which includes, food, tents and hygiene kits.
Moreover, during the COVID-19 global pandemic, Qatar has provided an urgent medical aid to Pakistan, including testing kits, oxygen devices as well as food.
Qatar is a country with a large population of Pakistanis in the Gulf region. Relations between Pakistan and Qatar are based on shared beliefs and values. The two countries share bilateral and close cooperation on regional and global matters of mutual interest.
Moreover, The relations between the State of Qatar and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan are strong and deep-rooted in various fields, since the beginning of diplomatic relations in the early seventies, and these relations have been strengthened by mutual visits at the highest levels, during which a large number of agreements were signed in the field of politics, economy, trade exchange, investments, culture, education and many other important fields.
