The Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif held telephonic talk with the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, Kristalina Georgieva. During the telephonic conversation with IMF, Managing Director, PM Sharif extended gratitude for playing a key strategic role in Pakistan’s 3 billion dollar standby agreement with the IMF.
The details about the following has been shared by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif over his official social media handle. During the telephonic conversation, PM Sharif praised Kristalina Georgieva’s leadership and her professional role. Noting to which, PM Sharif, during the conversation, said that, “You have felt the millions of poor people of Pakistan in the plight of Pakistan, thanks for your valuable support.”
It is to be noted that, IMF Managing Director, Kristalina Georgieva, has also appreciated Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for presenting the case of Pakistan in a comprehensive way.
Considering which, Kristalina Georgieva said that, “Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif presented Pakistan’s case to the IMF in a comprehensive manner. The IMF was skeptical of Pakistan’s previous deal results. After constant communication and meeting with the Prime Minister, the board was informed about the seriousness of the Prime Minister for the economic recovery of Pakistan. In the economic conditions of Pakistan, the Prime Minister showed high leadership skills. There is now a strong atmosphere of trust between the IMF and Pakistan. Pakistan is an important member of the IMF, will continue to support Pakistan.”
At the same time, while appreciating the positive attitude of MDIMF, PM Sharif said that, “Finally the hard work of both partners paid off and a standby agreement was reached.”
He said that, “The government will fully implement the IM agreement. I am sure that the caretaker government formed next month will also stick to the agreement. If the people of Pakistan re-elect us, we will work together with development partners and the IMF to re-develop the country’s economy.”
