The Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, on Wednesday has arrived in the city of Baku in Azerbaijan. The arrival of Pakistani PM Sharif in city of Baku came following his two-day official visit on the invitation of the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyov.
It is to be noted that this is the first visit of the Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to Azerbaijan after assuming the post of Prime Minister of Pakistan.
The First Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Yaqoob Ayubov, Deputy Foreign Minister Al-Noor Mamadov, Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Pakistan Khizar Farhadov came to the airport to welcome PM Sharif in Baku.
During the visit, PM Sharif will pay a tour at the shrine of Azerbaijan’s national leader Haider Aliyov in Baku and likely to lay a bouquet of flowers. PM Sharif, during the visit will also visit the Azerbaijan’s Martyr’s Memorial.
At the same time, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will hold meeting with President Ilham Aliyov. Leaders from both the nations will also address the media.
Notably, during this, a delegation of the ministers of Azerbaijan will also hold meeting with PM Sharif for promoting the trade and cooperation in the energy sector between both the nations.
It is to be specifically mentioned the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif took it to his official social media handle, adding that, “The visit is part of our government’s policy to strengthen bilateral cooperation & build win-win partnerships. Other than expediting early finalisation of Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA), I will hold important talks with Azerbaijani leadership to open up avenues of cooperation in energy, banking, financial services & IT sectors.”
He further added that, “Translating excellent bilateral political ties into a solid relationship of trade and investment remains a fundamental goal for us. Central Asia is central to our energy security policy & we are committed to stepping up the cooperation with CARs to make Pakistan energy-secure.”
