The special delegation led by the Additional Secretary of the Arms Control and Disarmament/Policy Planning from Pakistan, Mohammad Kamran Akhtar has successfully held the 8th Round of the Pakistan-China Bilateral Consultations. It is to be noted that the consultations has taken place on the Arms Control and Non-Proliferation. The Consultations have taken place in the capital city of Beijing.
Considerably, the state of Pakistan during the consultations was represented by the Additional Secretary of the Arms Control and Disarmament/Policy Planning, Mohammad Kamran Akhtar. Whereas, on the other hand, the Chinese delegation was represented by the Director General, Department of Arms Control, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sun Xiaobo.
During the meeting, delegation from both the representative nations have exchanged in-depth views on China-Pakistan relations, international and regional security situation along with the range of other issues of mutual interest.
Meanwhile, delegations from both of the representing nations have held discussions on several key subjects of concern. But the main concern revolved around the subject related to the Arms Control as well as the internal and external security issues that is going on across the world.
While holding the talks on the above mentioned subjects, both sides discussed a broad spectrum of topics related to Arms Control, disarmament & non-proliferation including regional and global security situation.
At the same time of the visit to the capital city of Beijing, the delegation from Pakistan also visited the leading think-tanks in the Beijing including the Chinese Army Control and Disarmament Association (CACDA) and the Chinese Institute of Contemporary International Relations(CICR).
Moreover, it was also agreed, during the visits, to further bolster the strategic outreach between the think tanks as well as the research institutes of both the nations, including Pakistan and China.
Following this, the delegation from both the sides have reached to an agreement to hold the 9th round next year on a mutually agreed dates.
