Heavy rains have claimed two lives in the in Charsadda district after the authorities issued an alert for heavy flooding. The authorities have also reported that one individual has sustained injuries after the heavy rain induced floods.
The three victims, two of which are deceased, were residents of the Dalazak village of Shabqdar tehsil of Charsadda district. As per the official reports, a woman and a young boy have been killed while another woman sustained severe injuries.
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority confirmed that the casualties happened in he evening hours of Wednesday. After the reports of the deaths and injury, law enforcement agencies and PDMA urged the people to remain careful.
A heavy rainfall alert was put in place for the whole province courtesy of the MET Office of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The MET office had forecasted strong Torrential Winds and Rain in the province for the upcoming day. The officers had urged the citizens to remain safe and exercise caution while the rain alert remains in place.
The MET office has announced the total rainfall received by the various districts of the province. The provincial capital received a total rainfall of 40mm from the time period starting Wednesday. Further, the Parachinar District received rainfall of 38mm.
Balakot district received rainfall of 1 mm. The met office confirmed that the torrential rains are expected to continue affected the province for the next three days. The officials of the Pakistan Meteorological Deepartment have urged continuous caution for the specified period.
Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) has commented on the affect of the weather on the electrical supply. The spokespersons have acknowledged that several areas across the Khyber Pakhtukhwa Province were without electricity.
The company revealed that power supply was disrupted in the Provincial capital, Peshawar. Other district affected by the disruption and outage included the Mansehra, Charsadda and Kohat districts.
The Electricity company claimed that approximately 200 feeders tripped due to heavy rain. They worked for several hours to restore the supply of electricity to the homes.
