The Election Commissioner of Balochistan, Ejaz Anwar Chohan, on Sunday has taken part during the three day training of the presiding and returning officers.
During the interaction with the officers, Election Commissioner, Ejaz Anwar Chohan has said that, “All the resources would be utilized to ensure that elections are conducted in a peaceful, free, fair and transparent manner.”
In an interaction with the media on Sunday, he said that three day training of presiding and returning officers started on Saturday.
At the same time, Election Commissioner, Ejaz Anwar, pledged that, “Holding of peaceful elections in Balochistan is one of the challenge and Election Commission of Pakistan will fulfil its responsibilities effectively.”
He said that, “Police and other security personnel would be deployed at the polling stations.” He ensured that army would be called in case if any unfavorable or any untoward situation arose.
While adding that a level playing field would be provided to all the contesting parties and individuals, Election Commissioner, Ejaz Anwar, said that, “All the political parties and candidates taking part in the elections would be treated equally.”
During the interaction, he expressed the hope that the law enforcement agencies will be playing their key role in bringing improvement in the security situation in Balochistan.
Along with this, he pointed out that he was informed during a meeting with the Inspector General of Police that the situation in Balochistan was different from situation in other provinces. Police and Frontier Corps would be deployed to ensure peaceful conduct of polling.
He added that the request would also be made for the troops deployment outside the polling station in case if required.
The provincial election commissioner said that they would urge people to ensure that women cast votes. More than 5,000 polling stations will be established in the province, he added.
