Roseau, Dominica: Prime Minister of Dominica- Roosevelt Skerrit, arrived in Trinidad earlier Sunday ahead of the 45th Regular Conference of Heads of CARICOM. He will put shed light on several matters of concern related to agriculture, food security and climate change in the meeting.
He will assume the chairmanship of the CARICOM during the meeting scheduled for July 3 to 5.
PM Roosevelt Skerrit took to Facebook and shared an update on his meeting with CARICOM Secretary General- Dr Carla Barnett. He also received a brief description of the preparation for the CARICOM meeting.
“CARICOM Chairman, Prime Minister of Dominica, Hon. Roosevelt Skerrit, arrived in Trinidad earlier Sunday ahead of the 45th Regular Conference of Heads of CARICOM and got right to work, “said the prime minister.
Prime Minister Skerrit participated in a briefing led by CARICOM Secretary General Dr. Carla Barnett in preparation for the July 3-5 conference.
The Dominican leader will chair the three-day meeting with a focus on trade negotiations, regional security, agriculture and food security, climate change and climate finance and the Caribbean Single Market and Economy.
Trinidad and Tobago is all set tp welcome local, regional and international guests for the 45th Regular Meeting of Heads of Government of CARICOM and the commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of CARICOM.
The activities and events for the meetings are as follows:
On July 1, 2023:
- 16th CARICOM 5K Road Race will be held at Queen’s Park Savannah, Port of Spain. The time is 5: 00 pm.
On July 2, 2023:
- 16th CARICOM 10K Road Race will be held at Chaguarams Convention Centre. The time is 4: 30 pm.
On July 3, 2023:
- Opening Ceremony of 45th Regular Meeting of Heads of Government of CARICOM and the commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of CARICOM at Hyatt Regency, Trinidad. The time is 4: 30 pm.
On July 4, 2023:
- Flag Raising Ceremony at Chaguaramas Convention Centre at 9: 00 am.
- CARICOM at 50 Concert and Food Festival at NAPA, Port of Spain. The time is 6: 30 pm.
On July 5, 2023:
- Closing Press Conference at Hyatt Regency, POS. The time is 6: 45 pm.
