St Kitts and Nevis: Geoffrey Hanley- Deputy Prime Minister and Education Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, visited the Republic of China (Taiwan) on Tuesday, May 9, 2023. He met with representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the team from the educational unit.
The meeting featured a discussion on the friendly relations that existed between St Kitts and Nevis and the Republic of China. He stated that they have also discussed ways to strengthen their almost 40-year-old partnership with Taiwan.
Geoffrey Hanley took to Facebook to share glimpses of the meeting. He said, “Today, May 9, 2023, our team continued making our rounds in Taiwan. It was a pleasure for us to meet with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and his team, along with a team from the education unit.”
He also extended gratitude to the Government of the Republic of China on Taiwan for going to great lengths to ensure we engaged key stakeholders to discuss furthering St. Kitts and Nevis’ almost 40-year-old partnership with Taiwan, particularly in the areas of education and energy.
He said that each day is packed with learning opportunities and over a five-day visit, they will see best practices implemented in a number of areas, including green energy and education. The team looks forward to sharing their findings upon returning to the federation.
While sharing his series of activities in Taiwan, Geoffrey Hanley expressed pleasure in getting the opportunity to lead a delegation to Taiwan. Today, Monday, May 8, 2023, they visited the Taipei Municipal Wenshan School of Special Education, where they were warmly greeted by the principal and his staff. During the visit, the principal explained the program designed himself, followed by a tour of the facility.
He said that upon leaving the Taipei Municipal Wenshan School of Special Education, they were treated to one of Taiwan’s most famous sites: The Taipei 101 building, which at one point was one of the world’s tallest buildings.
