The recent clashes between the tribes of Shia and Sunni has resulted in the deaths of around 10 people and over dozens injured. The incident has taken place in the Upper Kurram after a period of calm.
It is to be noted that, both the sides are using the heavy and automatic weapons against each other. In the latest round of clashes, four more people have been died and ten have been injured.
As per the statements made by the police, disputes over land between the Boshai and Ahmadzai tribes in the Upper Kurram are resulting in igniting the clashes.
The ongoing clashes between both the tribes have resulted in blocking the main highway and other routes.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner, Javedullah Mahsud said that the efforts are being made to sought out the issue through a jirga, while members and the elders have been sent to areas where clashes are going on to help negotiate a ceasefire.
Among those who were slain during this dispute were the PTI Kurram District Youth Wing President and his bodyguards. The major affected region of the Kurram district was the area of Boshera.
As per the reports, armed men from one of the factions tried to construct the trenches in the region; an action which sparked the clashes which spiraled into an all-out battle.
The chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ali Amin Gandapur, while taking notice of the incidents directed the local administration and the tribal jirga to work towards the peace-keeping process. He further directed the quarters concerned to take the required action to resolve the matter on a priority basis.
The officials were also urged to involve elected representatives including MNAs, MPAs, local body members and the law enforcement officials.
They were further ordered to understand the exact demands of both the sides and initiate a way forward, on a provincial level, to find a permanent solution to the conflict.
