Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, on Sunday, has, approved the decision on the major crackdown against the sugar smuggling, hoarding and profiteering.
The recent decision came following a high level meeting under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif which took place in Lahore.
It is to be noted that during the meeting, Prime Minister Sharif has expressed strong resentment over the reports of illegal profiteering and smuggling.
Notably, during the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif convened a high-level meeting in the capital city of Islamabad on Saturday to tackle the illegal smuggling of sugar as well as other items in the meeting and devised a country-wide action strategy to curb smuggling.
At the same time, PM Sharif, following the meeting, has directed the law enforcement authorities to deal with the characters involved in the smuggling, illegal profiteering and hoarding with the iron hands and harsh punishments.
The Prime Minister said that the public could not be left at the mercy of smugglers, illegal profiteers and hoarders. Those who harass the public Will be held accountable.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Sharif also directs Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi to take effective measures and surveillance to control sugar prices in the province. The Prime Minister also directed the Chief Minister of Punjab to meet sugar mill owners, and to take steps to prevent the rise in sugar prices. During the past week also, the Prime Minister held a meeting in Islamabad on this issue.
Moreover, during the meeting, Supervisor Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Ahad Cheema, Chief Secretary Punjab, Secretary Food Punjab, IG Police Punjab along with the other officials attended the meeting.
