The Peshawar police has recovered the body of an Italian national from a flat in Nasir Bagh area on the outskirts of the provincial capital on Sunday night.
They added that, Joshua Vargas, who had landed at Bacha Khan International Airport via a Saudi Airline flight on October 8, was found dead at a residential flat.
As per the police team investigating on the spot, “the citizen of Italian was visiting the provincial capital and was residing in a flat rented by his friends, who Vargas met online. They added though his friends were not arrested, they were part of the case investigation.”
One of the official investigating the case, said that, “His friends tried to talk to him but Vargas was not receiving calls since his mobile phone was switched off.” He further added that the main door of the flat was open with a note attached to it saying the flat’s main door was open with a note attached to it saying that, ‘don’t open, call police.’
According to the official, “the friend of Vargas called the police, which rushed to the spot.” He said that the police found another note in the flat with ‘keys are in the kitchen’ having written on it. Alongside this, he added that the police took the keys and opened the door to the room, where they found Varga’s body hanging.
While adding that there were almost no torture marks on the body, SP Warsak division Arshad Khan, said that, “It is premature to say if Vargas died by suicide, but the proof available leads us towards the fact to accept that it was suicide.”
