The Pakistani security forces has gunned down six terrorists in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Dera Ismail Khan and North Waziristan districts. The encounter between terrorists and security forces came following two separate intelligence based operations (IBO).
The information about the above mentioned has been shared by the military’s media wing on Wednesday. A statement from the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that an intelligence based operation was conducted in Dera Ismail Khan district on the reported presence of terrorists.
According to the statement, “During the conduct of the operation, five terrorists were successfully neutralized by the security forces. Whereas, in another exchange of fire in North Waziristan district, own troops effectively engaged the terrorist location as a result of which another terrorist Inam Ullah was sent to hell.”
The Inter Services Public Relations, said that, weapon, ammunition and explosives were recovered from the militants who were actively part in the number of terrorists activities against the security forces as well as the innocent lives of the civilians.
It added that the sanitization operations were being carried out to eliminate any other terrorists, stating that security forces were determined to wipe out the menace of terrorism from the nation.
During the last week, the security forces have neutralized three terrorists in exchange of fire during the intelligence based operation in KP’s Tank district.
It is to be noted that, Pakistan has witnessed a spike in the number of terror activities in the last year, mainly in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan after the banned militant Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan finished its ceasefire with the government in November 2022.
As per the annual security report issued by the Centre for Research and Security Studies, Pakistan witnessed 1,524 violence-related fatalities and 1,463 injuries from 789 terror attacks and the counter-terror operations in 2023- marking record six year high.
Meanwhile, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan were the main centres of violence, accounting for over 90 per cent of all fatalities and 84pc of attacks, including incidents of terrorism and security forces operations.
