A sewer explosion took place on Sunday in the Mughalpura area in Lahore, leaving at least eight persons injured. It is to be noted that, the incident took place on Sunday afternoon, when a sewer exploded, mainly because of the lack of cleaning, resulting in the accumulation of gases.
Initial report, have stated that, the explosion took place mainly because of the gas build-up in a sewage pipeline. Whereas, those injured in this explosion have been rushed to the hospital.
Meanwhile, the police and the rescue teams have reached the site of the incident. As per the police and the Rescue 1122 officials, the gas explosion took place in a market housing motorcycle workshops at noon. At the time of the explosion, several people were present in the area.
As per the report, the explosion took place because of the accumulation of gases in thee sewerage, mainly due to the lack of cleaning, leaving eight people injured.
Not just limited to this, people who have witnessed this explosion said that, “The sound of the explosion was so high and was heard even from several kilometers away. The explosion has also resulted in damaging the motorbikes that were parked around the spot. Whereas, one of the motorcycles also caught fire in the incident.”
It is to be hereby added that, the explosion has resulted in creating the panic among the people in that area as the residents and the traders at first thought that it was a bomb blast.
Locals of the area, have blamed the concerned officials and authorities for this explosion. As one of the local said that, “We have made several complaints and none of the official has paid any visit for checking or solving this issue. Despite the number of complaints, they continued ignoring this issue.”
Meanwhile, the injured persons were shifted to hospital by the Rescue 1122 teams reaching the spot on being informed of the incident.
According to police, the condition of all the injured persons was stable and they were investigating the incident.
