The Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif has extended deep sorrow and grief over the death of Pakistanis in the boat capsizing incident in the Mediterranean Sea near to the Greece, instructions for an inquiry into the incident.
It is to be noted that the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif’s directive to the law enforcement agencies for an immediate crackdown against the human traffickers who are forcing people to take the dangerous steps by duping them.
– Prime Minister’s directive to the Pakistani embassy in Greece to take care of the 12 rescued Pakistanis.
– As per the instructions made by PM Sharif, FIA has appointed DIG Alam Shinwari as the focal person for the information as well as facilitation of those killed and injured in the incident.
– The Chief Secretary of Azad Jammu and Kashmir has also appointed a focal person to contact the Pakistani embassy and Greek authorities and inform about the dead and injured.
At the same time, PM Sharif has announced June 19 as the mourning day and also added that the national flag will fly at the half-mast and special prayers will be offered for the deceased.
PM Sharif has also formed a four-member high-level committee to investigate the incident. Director General of the National Police Bureau, Ehsan Sadiq appointed as the Chairman of the Committee. Additional Secretary (Africa) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Javed Ahmed, appointed as a member of the Imrani Committee. Azad Jammu & Kashmir Poonch Region DIG Sardar Zaheer Ahmed and Ministry of Interior Joint Secretary (FIA) Faisal Naseer also part of the committee.
It is to be noted that the committee will collect all the facts about the sinking of the ship in Greece. The aspect of the human trafficking will be probed and those responsible will be identified.
Moreover, it has been added that suggestions for cooperation and collaboration will be given to solve this problem at the global level. Immediate, medium and long-term legislation will be reviewed. Legislation should be enacted to impose stricter penalties on individuals, companies and agents responsible for such incidents.
The committee will submit a report to the Prime Minister in a week, in the light of which further action will be taken.
