Web Desk (24 News) — Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday heard petition regarding disqualification of Imran Khan. ECP has given Imran deadline of 23rd May to file a response, reports 24 News.
According to details, Hashim Ali Bhutta’s lawyer had filed a petition against Imran. The lawyer plead that his client could not come to court due to death of a relative and had his petition discarded on January 16.
In response, Imran Khan’s lawyer claimed that the grounds for filing such a petition were baseless. A similar appeal by Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) leader Hanif Abassi had been discarded by the Supreme Court, said the lawyer.
The Chief Election Commissioner, after hearing all the proofs, has decided to restore the petition against Imran Khan. The commissioner has also sought reply from Imran Khan till May 23.
