Rawalpindi (24 News): The Director General of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Major General Asif Ghafoor has held a press-conference at the ISPR HQ in Rawalpindi, reports 24 News HD.

According to news reports, the DG ISPR briefed the media regarding recent security developments in the country.
Operation Radd Ul Fasaad was initiated to consolidate the gains made in Operation Zarb e Azb. It is a commitment to the people of the country. We are determined to eradicate miscreants from the country at any cost – DG ISPR
The General mentioned about kinetic efforts of security forces in collaboration with intelligence agencies in carrying out Intelligence Based Operation (IBO’s) and in controlling the flow of illegal weaponry in the country as well.
The General also stated that sincere efforts were being made in order to stabilize the North Western borders, namely the FATA and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa borders.
He also mentioned the role of security forces in the non-kinetic domain of implementing and re-strengthening the National Action Plan (NAP). He mentioned that due reforms are required in order to consolidate the gains made in subsequent counter-terrorism operations including those being undertaken as per Operation Radd Ul Fasaad.
We have identified, in conjunction with the political leadership, 4 areas that required immediate attention, and these were Madrassah and Educational institutional reforms, Judicial reforms, Police reforms and FATA reforms. – DG ISPR
He mentioned that the policy formulation and implementation will be complimented by the advisory role of the security forces, and that the military would stand shoulder to shoulder with the political institutions in such matters.
Talking about the details of Operation Radd ul Fasaad, he mentioned that the operation was initiated on the 22nd of February, and a total of 15 major operational actions had taken place since that date.
4535 IBO’s were undertaken across the country during this time as well.
A total 723 joint-check posts have been established in collaboration with the Police and other security forces.
He added that 4510 suspects were arrested during this time as well.
A total of 1859 unregistered Afghan nationals were a part of that denomination, who either had fake identification documents or were living entirely undocumented.
The Security Forces have recovered a cache of 4083 illegal weapons during Intelligence based raids and operations, and it should be noted that the weapons recovered during operations in Balochistan and FATA are different from this figure. 622191 rounds of ammunition were recovered during this period as well.
The General further noted that a total of 579 miscreants, belonging to different terror outfits surrendered themselves to the security forces in this time as well.
108 terrorists have been killed in the instances of exchange of fire during operations under the umbrella of Radd ul Fasaad.
Talking about major regional operations, the General stated that 2 major operations were conducted in Punjab, 1 in Sindh, 4 in Balochistan, and 8 in FATA and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa respectively.
The General further detailed the events taking place in various security operations across the country.
He lauded the morale of the security forces in dealing with terror outfits and commended the civilian and political representatives for their cooperation on such matters.
