Karachi (24 News): The Ministry of Finance compiled and presented a report regarding the amount of taxes paid by the provinces during the period from 2014 – 2016. As per the report, an amount of over Rs. 79 Hundred Billion as taxes was gathered from the provinces during this period of time, 24 News HD reports.
Sindh took the lead in tax payments, with Rs. 49 Hundred Billion being drawn from the province alone.
The Punjab and Balochistan accounted for Rs. 30 Hundred Billion and Rs. 1.26 Hundred Billion respectively.
The government was unable to institute or account for taxes on a large scale in Gilgit-Baltistan, with the province accounting for only Rs. 3 Billion in the three year time period.
An amount of Rs. 9.54 Hundred Billion was collected in the form of Customs during the three year time period. Sales Tax collections amounted to Rs. 33.86 Hundred Billion, while Direct Taxes drew an amount of Rs. 31.28 Hundred Billion.
