Web Desk: At least seven people have died while seven are still missing in an accident in Indus river in Larkana, reported 24 News.
According to details thirty people were on the boat when it struck with left bank of the river resulting in capsizing. Fifteen people remained successful in swimming to the shore.
There were also some motorbikes on the boat.
Pakistan Navy diver along with locals are carrying out the rescue and search operation to find the missing people.
While talking to the channel, reporter Abdul Khaliq told that due to night time on Friday the operation was stopped which resumed in the morning on Saturday. “The authorities have strictly ordered that there must not be more then twenty five people on boat but locals have never acted upon these orders,” he said.
“Due to this carelessness, these kinds of accidents happen,” he added.
The safety precautions and rules are not being followed commonly in boat riding in Pakistan. Last week, same kind of accident happened in River Ravi in Nankana Sahib Lahore in which one person died while dozens were rescued by the authorities.
Due to lack of check and balance the local boatmen do the overloading while crossing the rivers in Pakistan.
