Web Desk: According to two United Nations officials, Myanmar government and army has killed over 1000 Muslims in just one year of 2016, reported.
While talking to media, officials stated that army started a crackdown operation in October last year. “The army not only killed innocent men but even children were not spared,” officials stated.
There are also report of collective rape incidents with Muslim women by Myanmar soldiers.
According to reports the Muslims were targeted under the allegations of supporting rebel groups in country.
It may also be noted that operation is underway on orders of Prime Minister Aung San Suu Kyi who was awarded Nobel Prize for Peace in 1991.
The Rohingya Muslims are facing oppression in Myanmar since 1978 as thousands of them have fled to neighboring countries like Bangladesh and Thailand.
The Muslims are living there for centuries but local Budhists are not ready to accept them as reports of rape, murder, abduction and torture of Muslims are commonplace.
In 2015 only, almost 25,000 Rohyinga Muslims have seek asylum in Bangladesh and South Eastern countries like Malaysia and Indonesia.
The global community has not gave much attention to the issue as the conditions of Muslims are getting worse in the country.
