Web Desk: Currently under dire criticism of opposition parties, Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq on Thursday maintained that the his ruling on disqualification references of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan was made after careful consideration in accordance with the rules, reported 24 News.
It must be noted that Chairman PTI had earlier alleged that Ayaz Sadiq had made the decision under pressure of PMLN president Nawaz Sharif. He accused that speaker had not thoroughly analyzed the references and rejected the disqualification reference against PM Nawaz Sharif and forwarded the same against him for further proceeding to Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) because he was being controlled by someone else.
Imran Khan’s reservations are not baseless as confirmed by absence of Ayaz Sadiq in NA session on Thursday.
In an attempt to clarify his position, Ayaz Sadiq talked to media on Thursday and said that the decisions were made as per merit. He also said that the house elected him as speaker and not Imran Khan. Mr.Sadiq’s approach to matter as serious as this is immature as best. Opposition parties have criticized the role of Ayaz Sadiq as speaker of NA and expressed serious reservations over his conduct.
Meanwhile it may be noted that Ayaz Sadiq on Thursday avoided the face off with PTI chairman. Ayaz Sadiq did not appear in national assembly session which was presided over by PMLN MNA Pervaiz Malik instead.
However Khan who attended the NA session said that he does not consider Ayaz Sadiq speaker of the house anymore. Khan said that he just wanted to ask a few questions of Ayaz Sadiq.
Later opposition parties walked out of the parliament’s session in protest against partisan role of the speaker.
